Regarding these matters worth presenta tion, the alternative was to put them into Special Chapters. Thus isolated, perhaps the reader may think they ought to have been more fully developed; to do this, in my judgment, would have unduly swelled the size Of the work. What has been given I hope will prove interesting to readers, and lead others to garner more from this rich field of study.
