"Often grim but always great value"

Chris Simms's first book ‘Pecking Order’ won so many awards, including Best British Crime Novel, that publishers and book sellers confidently predicted a bright future for this young author. And they were right. Each of his subsequent book has received awards and unanimous praise from professionals and public alike. Chris pulls no punches and his books are often on the dark side of detective fiction but his research and technical ability are immaculate. Said to be the author whom real detectives praise highly as accurate and realistic, he tells a brilliant, usually nail-biting story in a style that is definitely classed as ‘unputdownable’.

Description

Rubble lives in a caravan and works on a battery farm. Totally oblivious to the outside world, he spends his days disposing of the sick and injured chickens. But all the while he dreams of a life in the army - despite the fact his numerous applications have been rejected. Then one day a mysterious visitor arrives and sees Rubble's child-like naivety combined with an ability to kill without compunction. Soon Rubble finds himself involved in a murderous secret project, his only chance of escape is the help of the girl he has to kill.
