Don't get me wrong, this is a incredible movie. It manages to capture the horror of war perfectly without excess blood. This is quite a sad movie, not that that's a bad thing.
The battle scenes are amazing. The great thing about them is that they show the tactics used. Since the muskets could only hold one shot first, the armies had to decide whether to get the first shot or the better ground.
I did mention that the movie is a bit long. There is one scence that takes a break from the war which seems to slow the whole movie down. Other than that, the excess length is welcomed.
I would give this 4.5 if I could.
