This is a book by a 68 year-old retired Irish priest. Written in a relaxed, conversational style, it is divided into ten short chapters, most of which are less than two pages long. The main exception is the final chapter, which runs over 10 pages. Writing with enthusiasm and an unfailing cheerfulness, Father Finnegan is fluent and friendly and his words pour out easily. His narrative is enlivened by anecdotes of events in his life and by a constant stream of apt quotations. Many of the quotations are from the bible but there are also some less predictable ones, from G K Chesterton to Woody Allen.
