Description

Over & Under is a collection of naughty and wicked short stories compiled by best friends, Maude & Mabel under the guiding light of creators, Peter & Paul. Spurred on by Mabel's new work project, the indomitable pair of fortysomethings reach out to their eclectic group of friends: Cleo and Donald, Miss Lash and Madam Li, Cleo Pushkin and the Count to post their weird and wonderful tales. On the way the reader is treated to a host of bizarre incidents, terrible dilemmas and comic friezes. How will Kateryna woe Shevshenko? Will the Count elude confession on his death bed? Can a true Scot really appreciate a holiday in the Med? How will we grow old? Gracefully or with a bottle in our hands? Of course Maude & Mabel just have to add their very own take on each story as burgundy's finest ebbs and flows. Under & Over is the perfect companion for dull journeys and lazy days by the pool. With postcard images to accompany each story, it is the ideal book for a Christmas stocking or a friend's birthday treat, and just the thing for the book club whose members cannot quite bring themselves to finish their weighty tomes. "A luminous bit of life delicately piled on prose platters" - Jay Parini, Author of Benjamin's Crossing

Author Biography

Peter is undoubtedly a scallywag, although he would admit that is usually called something far worse. You'd think butter wouldn't melt in his mouth, but there is a long list of those who have missed the point. If his charm and talents are well understood and appreciated, his former employment makes him the most unlikely sinner. Peter has taken to authorship like a duck to water. Being an actual author, he feels, is so much more exciting than being the right hand honcho to a left hand bigwig. If he is not wafting in his polished limo or tinkering in his favourite piano bar, Peter hides himself away on the waterfront to think, write and enjoy life as it floats on by. Paul has followed The Book all his life but now he struggles to remember exactly why. Now when he leaves a bookstore with a new tome tucked under his arm, he is still enthused, yet the real magic of life always seems to elude him. On the surface is friendly and affable, but Paul has a secret that dogs him night and day. On better days when he is not holed up in his city digs, Paul writes and publishes all manner of nefarious things in the hope that it will cleanse his soul and perhaps soothe his palate like a glass of fine wine.
