In "Tenkiller Flats", Dave Keegan returns to Cabezon after ten years away. Hannah, who lives on a ranch adjacent to the Lazy K, has written Dave to tell him that his father has died. The Lazy K now is his. The reason Dave left originally was that he disapproved of his father's agreement to join the syndicate organised by Pride Seevert of the Seven Diamond. It is Dave's intention to reject the syndicate now, but his problems are numerous. "Outlaw's Promise", Ray Hogan's last Western story, concerns Wayne Trevision who is wanted in Montana for killing a lawman. He must keep his identity a secret, but that is difficult to do when he has been named to assume the management of a friend's ranch after his death. Wayne is met with jealousy and beat unconscious in town. Is Wayne's loyalty to his late friend worth what it's going to take? Trevision decides it is.
