Can you explain your place in the Universe?
Mike Hoolihan (Patricia Clarkson) is a homicide detective- its her whole life. Brought up in a series of foster homes, knowing nothing about her origins, her life didn't really begin until she joined the academy. Being police is who she is it- and it makes her feel safe. Hoolihan is called in to investigate the shooting of leading astrophysicist and black hole expert Jennifer Rockwell (Mamie Gummer). As she ventures further down the path of truth, Hoolihan cannot shake a haunting feeling that there is more than meets the eye in this case leaving her view of the universe and herself precariously unstable.
“A sinewy and complex riff on the gumshoe thriller, the latest film from British director Carol Morley is her most ambitious and hypnotic to date.” - Seventh Row
“Although the stellar cast is more compelling than the story itself, the science fiction elements make director Carl Morley's Out of Blue a unique homicide puzzle to piece together.” - FF2 Media
