"A charming and whimsical Parisian delight."
5 stars"

This is a classic upstairs-downstairs story, starring delightful gamine star Cécile de France as Jessica, a new arrival in Paris who gets a job waitressing in a cafe on the Avenue Montaigne, where she comes into contact with people from the world of theatre and art who are all at crisis popints in their lives. It abounds in charm and life, and is irresistibly entertaining.

This has a very good and captivating story. The viewer is travelling along with Jessica (Cecile de France), a simple girl from a small rural town (Macon) from the natural to the various artistic environments in Paris, Montmartre and its uptight ways. The contrast is enhanced by seeing the lovely non-spoiled girl in the would-be (regarded by fans as happy and sophisticated artist) world and guess, these artists show they would be happier if they only could be themselves, but they have played too many roles, so they left natural behaviour behind continuing their role in normal life, yet some do shed it with hilarious effects, good! Jessica and her granma show factors why and how to return to normal happiness. The views of the city are stunning. The artists are in a slightly exaggerated role slightly accentuated to make it all very funny, I could not stop the movie till I had seen all of it, found it really worth while, just look at her pretty challenging face! This movie aims to become happy too and no to imitate stars and their fancy-fancy world. E.g. -Famous director–what did you like about my film---Oh eh it was good–WHAT, oh eh I donot know, ...... Just sketching empty admiration..... ENJOY

Directed and co-written by Thompson ("La Buche," "Jet Lag"), the film centres around Jessica (Cecile de France) a beautiful young woman from the provinces who comes to Paris and lands a job waiting tables at a chic bistro on fabled Avenue Montaigne, the city's nexus for art, music, theatre and fashion. Jessica's customers include a popular TV actress (Valerie Lemercier) who is courting a major Hollywood director (Sydney Pollack) for her first serious film role; a wealthy art collector (Claude Brasseur) who is about to liquidate a lifetime's worth of treasures at auction; and an illustrious classical pianist (Albert Dupontel) who is at odds with his manager/wife (Laura Morante) as to where his career is headed. Precisely because Jessica doesn't know how celebrated these people are, her guileless and completely unintimidated engagement in their lives has a transforming effect on them - and ultimately her.
