Description

Orange encompasses the trends and technologies of today. The main character is Demen, a headstrong, self-assured thirty year old that owns a successful magazine called Orange. If she's not at her magazine, you'll find Demen hanging out with her like-minded best friend, Dollar. Out of curiousity one night the two check out a new private club called Freddy's. Weeks later Demen begins a relationship with Bob, the clubs owner and starts spendings less time at her magazine. Dollar, looking for some inspiration, sets out on a cross-country trip leaving Demen, for the first time in a long time, alone. Demen soon finds herself embarking on a self-realization journey, taking a long look at her life and dealing with some unresolved feelings from her past. In Orange, author Rowan Lore gives us some philosophical insights at the private club called Freddy's through conversations about being trendy to ones involving puberty. There are mentions of music, fashion and celebrities. Rowan Lore gives us a well-written plot and is able to bring many interesting characters alive in her debut novel.
