In 2007, Ellen Fannin, Executive Director of Unity Church of the Hills in Austin, Texas, felt the call of Spirit to provide a sense of continuity while the church sought a new senior minister. Thus began her sacred service of Opening Prayers. Since that first prayer on May 6, 2007, Ellen has delivered countless prayers. This compilation features 52 of her favorites -- one for every week of the year. Ellen Fannin grew up in the church. The daughter of a Southern Baptist minister, her childhood revolved around church activities. As a teen, she, like so many other teens, began to question the belief system of her parents and started her quest to research other faiths. It wasn't until her early thirties, as a single mother, that she found a spiritual home in Unity, a belief system that truly resonated with her. She is currently a member of Unity Church of the Hills in Austin, Texas, where she has been serving on the church staff since 2002.
