NEW MOOG AUTHORISED RECORD LABEL LAUNCHES WITH LIMITED VINYL
& CD RELEASES FROM THREE ELECTRONIC PIONEERS: THE GRID, MIKA
VAINIO & HIEROGLYPHIC BEING.
Moog Recordings Library is new record label established specifically to
release
limited editions of recorded works, sessions, concerts and audio experiments
utilizing The Moog Sound Lab UK (Est. 2015). The MSL(UK) is a studio on open
loan from Moog Music Inc (USA) designed to encourage the making of new
electronic works and to welcome UK based artistic and public access with the
aim
to broaden experimentation and practical hands-on knowledge. The mobile
studio
was specially designed by Moog Music Inc. and is centred around the
2014 limited
edition reissue of their legendary 1960s System 55 analogue synthesizer.
As well as the System 55, The Moog Sound Lab UK also features six
interchangeable
full sized racks of the latest Moog instruments & processors
(Moogerfoogers, Mother 32’s, Voyagers and more) plus stand-alone Moog
keyboard based synths and an extremely rare vintage foot pedal operated
Taurus
bass synth – a prog-rock classic!
Suitably high spec tech ancillaries come in the form of Bowers & Wilkins
speakers,
an AMS-Neve mixing desk, a Prism Sound analogue to digital interface and
Elektron rhythm composers – all making for a beast of
a synth studio
David Ball: One man band of pioneering electro-pop distorters Soft Cell, part
time PTV personality, soundtrack composer and all
round synth afficionado & Richard Norris: eclectic beat-meister &
ambient DJ, record producer, commited psychedelicist. The
1990’s saw worldwide commercial success as The Grid Scored 10 UK chart hits,
many a euro hit including 1994’s international
mega-hit ‘Swamp Thing”. In 1996 The Grid went on a holiday and they didn't
return till 2005. In the initial week of The Moog SoundLab
in early 2015 as the studio was literally put together around them, our abiding
memory was their absolutely delighted grins as
each Moog unit was added to the lab. Dave & Richard created this benchmark
album of deluxe ‘tronic trax that showcased their
prairie wide knowledge of electronica & their ocean deep skills as both
technicians & original soundscapers – Kraftwerk-Ian werkouts,
space noise jams, and slinky grooves with subtle pop-tones.
