The life of jazz man Oliver Jones is entwined with the history of the Montreal music scene and deeply rooted in the Black community of Little Burgundy. The son of Barbadian immigrants, Jones was born in Montreal. Making music came naturally to him, and he performed his first piano solo at five years old. While growing up in Little Burgundy he studied classical piano with Daisy Peterson, the sister of Oscar Peterson.

Author Biography:

Marthe Sansregret, a native Montrealer, holds a PhD from the Université de Montréal. She has nurtured a lifelong love of music, especially jazz and blues, and communicates this passion in her portrait of Oliver Jones.
