Description

The myths and legends in this unique collection, representing twenty-eight different cultures, highlight modern dilemmas such as how to resolve conflict, share responsibilities between men and women, and choose life goals. Philosophical issues, including the nature of reward and punishment and the meaning of living and dying, are also explored. As refreshingly relevant today as when they were originally created, these simple, wise tales from long ago emphasise the kinship of all people and remind children that human concerns are universal. An appreciative understanding of the issues explored in "Old Tales for a New Day" will surely help children deal more effectively with modern problems and also stimulate discussion among children, parents, and teachers.

Author Biography:

Sophia Lyon Fahs (1876 - 1978) was an editor, author, teacher, and religious activist who led a revolution in Unitarian religious education. Fahs's teaching and writing focused on a method of experiential learning that she hoped would enable children to develop their own ideas about religion and spirituality.
