"Enticing!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The artwork in this game is just brilliant but what got me hooked onto this game was really the brush techniques (which is something unique and not found in other titles) as well as the floral finishers.

the only downpoint about this game is that about halfway through – it gets rather easy, mainly because you hardly ever run out of ink and consumables are cheap to get.

All in all – 5 stars from me

"Different!"
4 stars"

I've never seen anything quite like this, imagine a game where you come across a wide river with no way across – the usual mode of thought is to look for a bridge, or way to make a bridge right? Well, in Okami, you press a button which makes your screen turn a different colour – and use your controller to paint a bridge… release the button and voila, a bridge appears – continue on…!

Okami is full of life, colour and amazing art design (combat works by freezing the game and using your “brush” to slice through enemies, you can even chop down trees and random scenery)

It's a magical place to be and certainly a game that – while may not be to everyone's taste – is definitely a unique experience, highly recommended for teen & adult alike

"MUST BUY"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This game is amazing, what can I say. The graphics are wonderful, the story is fantastic, the sound is very good though it could have done with some voice acting instead of the squeaking sound that it had to signify a person talking.

If you only buy one game for the PS2 make this the one you buy. Its a real time battle system, in fact when you are fighting you are able to pause the battle and draw you attack on the bad guys, you can slash them, draw a bomb and blow them up etc.

This game also has lots of mini games and missions, and tons of replay value.

The one fault with the game is that the battles were to easy, I didnt die once in the 2 times I have played though.

"A unique experience"

A truly excellent game, Okami's art and gameplay form solid base for a detailed world, a gripping story, and engaging characters. It's easy to play, with a lot of details that beginners don't need to understand, but which add to the experience as the player becomes more familiar with the game. You can play through it fairly quickly, but if you do you'll miss out on a lot of the details that make Okami's world an interesting place to be. Exploration is the key. I'm currently half way through my second replay; the game makes a replay truly worthwhile, for the details and secrets you missed the first time through; there are also differences the second time. It's hard to fault in any significant way. Don't miss it, Clover Studio is no more, this is all you'll get.

"Interesing game"

Loved the painting idea. This is not just your average hack and bash PS2 game it has a lot of added interest. Little things that make the game appealling. Thoroughly enjoying it.

"I love this game."
5 stars"

I bought it quite a while ago now, but it is a fantastic game, I love the story, the art is amazing, and the characters are well done. I love playing this game so very much.

"The artwork is amazing"

I've never seen a game quite like this one. The art is styled after Japanese ink paintings and looks so beautiful you'll spend a lot of time just taking in the scenery. Ink is also a theme within the game too, so you'll get a chance to draw to fill in gaps and open paths to new places.

"Beautiful, unique"

On the surface, its a ‘save the world from evil’ 3d platform game. Running, jumping, breaking boxes for money and items. However two things make it really special.

Firstly, the graphics are inspired by Japanese painting and calligraphy giving a uniquely beautiful world and striking characters.

Secondly, your character must interact with this world by painting changes into it. Paint the moon into the sky and it becomes night. Paint a bridge over a river you need to cross.

I've wanted this game ever since I played a demo several years ago. Now that I have it, I'm enjoying it so much that if (when) my ps2 scratches up the disc I'll get it resurfaced so I can keep playing…

"All-Time Favorite Game"
5 stars"

Okami is the definition of original, what other game are you going to get the chance to be a wolf god who attacks with a paint brush- Variations of tasks (side quests) are always available to make this game truly gripping. Very comical and light hearted, and slightly kinky, while not losing sight of the mission. Down side: Cut scenes are sometimes excruciating because the talking consists of squeaks at different tones and pitches, which is charming at first but frankly gets on your nerves later on as you can imagine.
