Octopolis to Halki: Of Greek Islands in General and Halki in Particular by Graham Clarke
Sorry, this product is not currently available to order

"Of Greek islands in general and Halki in particular." Artist, author and humourist Graham Clarke, together with his wife Wendy, fulfilled a long held dream and in the Spring of 2002 they joined the good ship Hebridean Spirit to sail the Greek seas. The islands worked their magic and the result was one of the artist's larger etchings 'Octopolis'. On seeing this finished work good friends declared, "Halki!" and together with other lovers of this tiny island off the west coast of Rhodes, made a gift of 'Octopolis' to the island community of Halki. Graham and Wendy paid their first visit to this wonderful island for the presentation and 'Octopolis' now hangs in the fine town hall. This unique book takes us every step of the way on a marvellous 72 page holiday full of fun and witty observations. This book combines the artist's passions for small islands, boats, fish and good people, portrayed with his unique skill and humour. Above all it is made with a joyful heart and much love; a souvenir for visitors, armchair explorers and fellow fish gluttons the world over.

Author Biography

Graham Clarke, author, illustrator and humourist, is one of Britain's most popular and best-selling artists and has a genuine world-wide following. Over the last thirty-five years he has created some five hundred etchings depicting English rural life and history, the Bible and the Englishman's view of Europe, and published more than a dozen books (details of those available through Vine House appear overleaf). His works are to be found in royal and public collections all over the world, as well as on the walls of countless ordinary homes. Few artists can claim to write as well as paint. Fewer still are able to combine a popular, light-hearted appeal with impeccable skills of craftsmanship. Graham Clarke does both, and with a style that is truly his own.
