John Burningham's simple concept board book for babies are designed to introduce young children to the letters of the alphabet, numbers and counting, all the colours in the rainbow and the concept of opposites. Each book gives a glimpse into the wonderful world inhabited by this illustrator.
John Burningham is widely regarded as one of the world's finest picture book artists. He won the WHSmith Illustration Award for Harvey Slumfenburger's Christmas Present, and has twice been awarded the Kate Greenaway Medal, for Borka: The Adventures of a Goose with No Feathers and Mr Gumpy's Outing. Among his many celebrated books is Granpa, for which he was awarded the Kurt Maschler Award, and which was later made into a successful feature film - as, more recently, was Oi! Get Off Our Train! He wrote and illustrated First Steps for Walker.
