This is the first Switch I got and I'm very impressed. People say the Poke Ball Plus controller is just a novelty, maybe it is, But having played games with 2 hands on a controller all my life having the freedom to only use one hand is a great refreshing experience. After tweaking some setting the game and colours look vibrant on a 4K TV (Full RGB the way to go). At first the Poke Ball seemed unless as the game was asking me to push buttons it did not have. Later I found I could get to what I needed though different ingame menus (Pokei Box). The game its self also took me about 8 hours to really get into it. At first I thought it seemed too simple, but as more opened up and you learn more about combos and candy I now have the drive to make my pokemon better.
Also the feel of the whole product is very nice. Clean, tidy, And the battery in the poke ball will easily last a whole days play (over 16 hours) before needing a charge.
At few things thing that might catch people out below:
- There is no game cartage. This has a number of ramifications.
- It will use up 4.2gig of the 22gig of internal memory on the system.
- You will need to have a computer or smart phone with E-mail address and WiFi to setup a Nintendo account before you can even play the game. Oddly you can't do it on the Nintendo Switch alone.
- Takes a bit of time to work out how to sync the controller or the poke ball you want. I found it easiest to do it in the ingame options menu.
