Nintendo SNES Classic Edition Console reviews

Picked up my shiny new retro SNES mini this morning and could not wait to unbox it and plug it in. It's everything I loved about the original SNES, albeit in a smaller package. There are a few games missing that I wish it had, but every game included is amazing, especially the original Mario Kart! If you have an opportunity to get one, I highly recommend it. Also, Mighty Ape's customer service again, as always, is awesome. This is gaming gold here, People.

Got mine yesterday, and I couldn't be happier. I haven't owned a SNES before, but one of my childhood friends did, and we used to play it all the time. I always wanted one for myself, and now I do… sort of. I am satisfied, though. Extremely satisfied. This is closest thing you'll get to an actual SNES, as it is an official product of Nintendo's, it runs SNES games beautifully, and has the original controllers. It really does feel authentic once you get a game running. The only thing I will mention is that it doesn't come with an AC adapter, for some reason. Thankfully, that didn't matter for me, and it probably won't matter for many other people either as the SNES Classic is USB powered, which widens setup options. SPOT ON.

Only knocked down 1 star as the controller cables are a little short but the console it's self is great. You can remedy the cables buy getting the 3m extension cables off mightyape aswell they are a must if you want to play it further away than 2m from your screen.

Great gadget with many classic games. Controller has ultra long cables. Setup simple as 1,2,3.

Exactly as I remember it, good selection of games, so playable.

‘Limited availability’ item that was faulty on delivery so the rigmarole with nintendo to get it shipped and fixed was a pain. Mighty Ape were great, the resulting console is fun as heck. And for me the parent – mucho nostalgia.

Same as the NES Classic: fun console, with a good selection of games, and while it’d be nice to have this collection on the Switch/3DS, having a mini console on the TV stand is a cool addition. The games on this one are a bit more playable than the NES ones too. Knocked it a star because of the controller cord length, but a wireless controller sorted that issue.

This is amazing, I spent hours playing these games as a kid in the early 90's. I'm having a blast playing these games again even tho my 11 year old thinks the graphics are terrible haha

My 18 year old daughter was so excited about this purchase, I cant get her off it. So I might have a long wait for my turn ---. Sooo many memories. Definitely worth getting. Ordered it 2 days before her birthday, they sent it the next day and it arrived on her birthday . Such a smooth transaction. Thanks team.

Got this for my boyfriend. He loves it, as does his family who have played for the nostalgia. Well worth it.

Just as awesome like when was a kid.

I've read people complain about the length of cords, wasn't an issue for us. We've played on This for hours with no complaints. My young boys loved the simple games based on fun. Mighty Ape shipped the box quickly and professional packaged as usual.

I purchased this for Super Mario World, Zelda, Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid and Street Fighter 2 Turbo. I've been enjoying Secret of Mana and Donkey Kong country as well. I would say it is better than the Nintendo Entertainment System Mini by a fraction due to the games but that is subjective obviously. Love them both to be honest and happy to have them in my lounge alongside my old school sega mega drive!

Polished up and presented well is a great collection of Nintendo's clas­sics. Has a few quirks, such as needing to reset the console to change games where a ‘master’ switch would of been better on the controller. Recommend a longer HD cable so you don't need to sit so close too the telly. Having said that all and all a reasonably priced console with games just the way they were! Cheaper than collecting the older console and carts, but not quite as satisfying.

This really brought me back to my childhood. The experience and quality of these games are just as the were on the original Snes. I can't wait to finish all the games :)

This thing is great, the game selection and the extra features such as changing the backgrounds, and rewinding save points make life allot easier. The only thing that lets it down is being unable to reset from the controller. But there may be third party software coming for that later for those that are not worried about the warranty. The cords are a a good length which is a big improvement over the NES Classic. This thing has been chewing up my spare time!!
