Description

Lauris Edmond (1924-2000) is described by the Oxford Companion to New Zealand Literature as "one of the most significant, assured and accessible of contem-porary poetic voices, and as a widely read auto-biographer and comment-ator." To create an anthology of Lauris's quintessential writings, the editors invited fellow writers, friends and family to suggest favourite pieces from her oeuvre. These they have woven together to produce this landmark volume, an eloquent and engaging addition to the Lauris Edmond canon. A time-line and a comprehensive bibliography are included.

Author Biography:

The editors Lauris Edmond's second daughter Frances Edmond is a screenwriter, actress, film director and playwright, and is Lauris's literary executor. She collaborated with Lauris on many projects, in-cluding poetry readings and recordings, and Lauris wrote a one-woman play Between Night and Morning for her. Frances has just directed her first short film, The Apple Tree. Retired psychologist Sue Fitchett is a conservationist and firefighter, and like Frances lives on Waiheke Island. Co-author and editor of several poetry books and a poetry/photography book, she authored Palaver lava queen (AUP 2004) and On the Wing (Steele Roberts 2014). Sue's work has appeared in various publications in New Zealand and Australia, and in art shows. She was Louis Johnson bursar 2001/2002 and co-winner NZ Poetry Society's International Competition in 1998.
