Nier, is an excellent game in many respects, however the graphics are very poor for this modern day and it carries the same battle system as many other hack and slash games. The greatest asset of this game is the story and new game plus.

Even though this is a fun game you will feel like your playing a Final Fantasy title only not as purrrdy. The graphis in this are a bit dirty but i feel that gives the game some character. Its has some swearing in it and the blood factor is there too, noting like killing a sheep and seeing the pool of blood as you cut you a steak from it lol.
Combat is a bit of a button mash fest but you can mix it up by adding some magic into it or throwing in a special weapon type move.
At first I was unsure of this game as it seems to have come out of nowhere and I wasn't really expecting much but it has been worth every cent so far.
Language can be pretty harsh at times but it is something you get used to pretty quick, the story can also be a little hard to get into, but once you put a bit of time into the game you catch up pretty quick.
The combat is a bit clumsy at times, often I would be slashing at nothing and have to stop, realign and start again. Magic is helpful in taking down small to medium sized enemies, but necessary in the larger boss battles, what is helpful though is that when you charge a magic attack time itself slows down for targeting, this is very helpful on some of the faster bosses.
This is definitely a adult game, with blood spray in combat and a rather colorful soundtrack (from the female character especially), I bought this just after I bought FFXIII and I have yet to go back to final fantasy, well worth buying if you want something to play that's not the usual Enix game with overly bright and bubbly characters, game length is about 50–70 hours which I feel is fairly decent now days also.
