This book is designed to guide you through the modules of OCR Level 1 Certificate/Diploma for IT Users (New CLAiT). This is part of the CLAiT 2006 suite (NQF LEVEL 1), a package of three IT user qualifications. The qualification is designed to boost candidates' IT confidence. It is suitable for IT beginners and allows candidates to tailor the qualification to suit their own needs. It has been developed in consultation with industry, "New CLAiT 2006" reflects and builds upon the strengths of RSA CLAiT Stage I, the UK's most popular IT qualification over the past two decades. It equips the learners with the basic range of transferable skills necessary to meet the demands of the modern workplace. "New CLAiT 2006" consists of units, which can be entered individually, as part of a nationally recognised IT user award, or in any combination according to the needs of the learner. Whether you are working alone or enrolled on a course, the materials in this book can be used effectively by all college classes and training courses and are designed to meet the needs of students who are studying New CLAiT 2006. The material provides the necessary knowledge for each unit, ending with the practice assessments at the end of the section. Every aspect of the syllabus is covered in full. The exercises are software specific, using the Microsoft Office package which is the most commonly used suite of applications used in business. It is in your own interest, therefore, to ensure that you have the correct software application before commencing. The syllabus comprises of 8 units, one of which is mandatory (Unit 1: File Management and e-Document Production). This book covers all units (including the mandatory unit) and gives the student a good all-round knowledge of the applications they are likely to encounter in the workplace.
