In a nutshell, Myth, The Fallen Lords is a tactical-level game of fantasy warfare. In either single-player or network games, the player directs a group ranging from a handful to hundreds of units on a battlefield as they maneuver, take and break formations and clash with the enemy in a bloody combat of melee, projectiles and magic.

The most obvious new technology is the genre's first fully 3D terrain. Not just a series of stepped elevations, Myth, The Fallen Lords's terrain is truly rolling, smooth, and realistic: hills and valleys, riverbanks sloping into the water, sheer rock faces, polygonal structures, bushes and rocks of varying heights.
