Description

Margaret Guenther's extended meditation on Psalm 62 is, she writes, 'a book for those of you who wish to find the time and space for retreat without ever leaving home.' The book's first chapter explains what we must do to draw apart for a period of retreat and quiet. Next, the psalm's theme of waiting on God's presence wiith patience, trust, and expectation provide an open door to Guenther's reflections on longing, silence, waiting, safety, treachery, and the image of god as a rock and refuge. She finds new ways to explore these ancient themes with the wit and practicality of an accomplished storyteller. Written in eight meditations that can be read consecutively over the course of a single day or spaced over a week that includes time each day to reflect on a particular verse. Each meditation ends with an idea for further prayer. My Soul in Silence Waits is the seventh in our Cloister Books series. These small, gift-edition books are intended for spiritual reading, reflection, and contemplation. The title is drawn from the monastic custom of walking slowly and reading or meditating in the monastery cloister, a place of silence, centering, and calm. In the pages of these books you will find a similar space in which to pray and reflect on the presence of God.
