Description

Excerpt from Military Chaplains' Review: Ethics, Winter, 1974 One way to geta feel for these rules, and to begin to develop competence in moral discussion and deliberation, is to observe prominent figures in the field. To see how they argue, what issues concern them, how they resolve difficulties that are thrown up to them - such observation is, I believe, a central part of moral instruction. In this paper I have chosen three moralists who are very prominent in the tradition, figures who have exerted and continue to exert considerable influence on the way people think about morals. In many ways, their arguments are paradigms of arguments one still hears all the time. It may thus be of value to watch them in action. But before we turn to expositing and evaluating the moral theoretical positions themselves, it is important to \try to get clear on what we mean by the words moral and morality. Certainly too much time can be spent on definitional matters. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
