Published in 1903 and translated by Katherine Prescott Wormeley. Motteville began her memoirs by writing from time to time, by what seemed the remarkable, but then turned into a defense of Anne of Austria. As a biographer, Motteville is recognized as accurate and thorough, and her "Memoirs", which includes documents found nowhere else, have been used by historians as a chief source of information on the mid-century conflict known as the Fronde.
