Description

Bringing his experience as a teacher of American literature to bear upon the book of Mark, Wallis argues that literary criticism of Scripture must keep at the forefront the religious of a coherent literary structure in Mark. In addition to prologue and epilogue, Wallis finds a section on Jerusalem which is preceded by four 'envelopes' defined by recursive doublets in chiastic structures. These envelopes recall the life of Jesus in four story units, each with its own theme.
