The authors of this work, (of 'which I write without having seen it, ) have doubtless made a summary or selection of such portions or passages as have relevance to American needs, or as may be intelligible to the people of the United States. Of all that, they are the best judges. All that is te quired of me is, to make as clear as I can in a short paper, the English conception of the Co-operative movement, to-day. Co-operation is organized self-help by honest labor and honest trade; the profits being equitably divided among those who create them, Whether by work of hand or work of brain.
