"Most complete nex-gen Madden yet"
4 stars"

I can confirm that the 360 version runs as smoothly as what we are used to on the PS2 versions, ie full 60 FPS glory, so yes if you have a choice 360 would be wiser in this case – but it is worth pointing out that the first Madden game on 360 (Madden 06) came with a lower than average framerate.

The most complete Madden package is still the PS2 version, but Madden 08 has caught up quite a bit and has most of the features of the PS2 version. Some things are missing, there's no radioshow, you cant create-a-fan and worst of all you can't create custom plays. But on the plus side you now get real radio sports reports via integrated ESPN radio and streaming video's from NFL films.

The game plays really well against human opponents, but I've found that the CPU opponent is almost unstoppable – even if you choose the best team in the game and face the worst team, defense is hard in Madden 08. It's really annoying when you chose a play to stop runs up the middle, and then having the computer run up the middle…

The framerate is appalling. I'd almost say it was unplayable. Even the MENUS are jerky. I hear this is isn't the case on the X360 version so if you have a choice, get that. Really disappointing :(

"Good but not great." Purchased on Mighty Ape

A long time Madden fan (from the good ol' Megadrive days – remember those? :p haha) I couldn't wait to try this out on my brand spankin' new PS3. This game sure has come a long way since I first played it (Madden '94). There's not much similarities between that title & this, although, the running backs seem to possess similar “untackle-able” qualities. In the '94 version there was a certain No. 22 on the Cowboys who couldn't be stopped anytime he had the ball & sometimes it feels like that on this game. This can be extremely frustrating at times (especially if, like me, you're into playing defense). I already seem to have run into some problems, a major one concerning the franchise mode. It appears that after 5 seasons, some of the CPU controlled franchises haven't filled out their rosters & the game is unable to continue – this has now occurred three (three!!!!) times in a row. If anyone knows how to get around this, please let me know ASAP. Thanks. Another pet peeve is the superstar mode, which after a few seasons, can become a bit tedious & repetitive – maybe they should introduce some off-field issues options – Roger Goodell the NFL Commissioner??? (Player suspensions could make it a bit more fun – GTA meets NFL???). I also miss the commentary from games past. Even though it was annoying at times, it also provided a lot of laughs & the occassional life lesson… Apart from these little “imperfections” the game is overall a very good one & a credit to the Madden Franchise (long may it continue!!!). This is the 6th Madden title I have been privileged to own & judging by the amount of time I'm spending on it, it definitely won't be my last!!!

Chargers Rule!!!!
