Madden NFL is the yard stick in sports simulation, it's what games want to be when they grow up. This time around EA have focused on defense, or the “D” as it's known. At times it feels as if the D is over the top, with non existant running and passing, this game will have you frustrated at times and this will cause more turnovers. There is however still small graphics glitches which cause headaches, more so when a players hand goes through a ball instead of slapping the pass away to cause an incompletion it gives up a big play.
graphically Madden 05 is great, the textures and player animations are superb. They've taken a leaf out of the NFL2k series and focused alot of attention on the cosmetics of the game, polishing up the menu systems and player graphics.
new additions such as the create a fan are fun and add more personalised feelings, storyline central is great for the first few seasons but does get repeative. But it is a new approach to keep the idea fresh.
Not including Live ability for the PAL version is a big bummer, this was one of the main reasons why I purchased Madden. I hopped to be playing other kiwi's online and the world to test my skills. I guess we'll just have to until the next edition of Madden to see if we get the Live option.
