Eiji Takezo is a Harvard Law School graduate desperate to escape a life he does not want. After he is pressured by his father to marry a chosen Japanese wife and follow his footsteps as head of the family bank, Eiji resigns and takes off in his well-worn Honda to travel the back roads of America and contemplate what to do next. But when his car unexpectedly breaks down, he finds himself stranded in Cedar Springs, Oklahoma, a dried-up town that is Eijis version of hell. Now he has just one goal: to get out of there as soon as possible.
While he waits for his car to be repaired, Eiji meets several eclectic residents who befriend and take him in for the night. The next morning after he discovers his car has been dismantled rather than repaired, Eiji is led on an unexpected journey to reorder his life with help from Ellanor, Lorraine, Booty, Mae, and the beautiful Blair Mason who soon captures his heart. When he learns she feels the same way, Eiji decides to build a new life in Cedar Springs. But how long can their love last in the face of bigotry?
In this tale of romance and culture clash, a man left stranded after his car breaks down in a rural Oklahoma town finds love when he least expects it.
