"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us." (Titus 3:5) Like many church members, Bula Milham never really knew what it meant to be a Christian. She had the proverbial cart before the horse. Her idea of salvation was getting to heaven with enough brownie points. It took 20 years for her to learn the truth of Jesus' command to be born again in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. Bula always had a heart for those who were down-and-out, and she had much compassion for them. Immediately following her born again experience, she ventured into an area that was a cesspool of sin. She knew that Jesus died for them as much as for any of us. The women followed her and the men ran from her. She enjoyed 11 wonderful years of ministry to these people. They stole her heart! BULA MILHAM was married to a military man, and they relocated numerous times. They eventually moved near Washington, D.C. and became involved in a country church where she met the Lord. Within twelve years, her whole family had come to Christ. It wasn't long until they had a church in their home. She also conducted a Bible study for school kids from all parts of town.
They lived in a dangerous area where policemen never frequented and neither did the clergy. She loved those people and spent eleven years serving them. She also spent seven years preaching to women in the nearby prison.
