Author Biography

Sally Lee is the author of numerous nonfiction books for readers from kindergarten through high school. Her interest in children's literature began at the University of Missouri where she received her degree in education. Her years of teaching gave her desire to help children learn. When she left the classroom to raise her own son and daughter, writing nonfiction became a way to continue educating children. Her favorite part of writing nonfiction is doing research. It reminds her of a treasure hunt, especially when it uncovers off-beat facts that nobody else knows. It also satisfies her own curiosity about the world. Sally and her husband live in Dallas, Texas, with their children and grandchildren nearby. Melissa Higgins has written more than 100 fiction and nonfiction books for children, including titles for the Capstone imprints Pebble, Pebble Plus, Picture Window, Snap, and Stone Arch. Her books have received medals from the Independent Publisher Book Awards and the Moonbeam Children's Book Awards. Before becoming a full-time writer, Melissa worked as a school counselor and had a private counseling practice. When not reading or writing, she enjoys hiking and taking photographs in the Arizona desert where she lives with her husband and two shy kitties. You can visit Melissa's website (www.mghiggins.com) to learn more about her books. Melissa Ferguson works as a continuing education program manager. She has worked for a corporate educational company that focuses on urban youth. She also has experience as a senior editor and writer in the publishing field. She holds an MA in English from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Besides writing, she enjoys finding "treasures" at flea markets and antique shops. She lives in a suburb of Minneapolis.
