I was gifted, Little Women, by Ellen Read. Thank you, so much Ellen, it's a very treasured book that I will keep 're reading in the near future. There are some spoilers in this book review. I loved Little Women so much. To me, Little Women is about a family of girls who grew up together, had fun, was mostly kind to each other and if not, the experiences were given in this book made the girls see their faults and try to rectify them. These women were all strong minded in their own little way, even Beth, who I took a shinning to. Beth who fell ill and fighted her way through it. With a recent discussion on Instagram some comments suggested that Jo was looked upon as the hero and I can understand why, but I felt Jo's personality was somewhat harsh, that's why I liked Beth so much, as she was presented as the underdog. Mrs Marsh I certainly did admire, very wise. Mrs Marsh did not tell the girls how to learn, the incident I am referring to, is when Mrs Marsh went upstairs in her room for the day while the girls had to cope doing daily chores. Another discussion on Instagram where one person said to me that Little Women was “a little sad at times”, but I didn't see it as such, as this was obviously written in the times where scarlet fever was an issue, it was all part of real life experiences, in fact, I found it quite endearing, that Beth came up trumps in the end, although she seemed not the feisty one of them all, she did win out in the end. This book comes highly recommended by me, as it is what I call “a true classic” so, if you are into historical fiction, classics then this one is for you.
