Description

This is a novel written as a screenplay. During the early 1940s WWII years, a seventeen-year-old drifter comes to the shipbuilding zone of the San Francisco East Bay. He takes as his secret residence a moth-balled U.S. Army house trailer. He takes over a gang of youths and organises them for mutual protection. He takes in a thirteen-year-old homeless girl, and pretends she is his little sister. When the U.S. Army hauls off the moth-balled trailers, the boy (ERIK) steals the trailer that the girl (HELEN) has made into their home. They are caught in Idaho. On being transported to a federal court, the transporting Marshall rapes Helen. Erik kills the Marshall. They face trial in Boise, Idaho. Helen is put into a foster home. Erik escapes and disappears.
