Liling-Po is asked to work with two officers (Bu-cho and Mei-toku) and they test his skill before accepting him on to the team. Liling-Po successfully steals the officer's pin Bu-cho is wearing and passes the test. Liling-Po, Bu-cho, and Mei-toku set out to find the eight treasures. They tracked down one of the treasures in a merchant's house. They worked their way into the house by being hired as housekeepers. Liling-Po finds the treasure, a necklace, in a secret passageway in the basement. Bu-cho questions the merchant if he has any more of the eight treasures, the merchant tells him that he sold the rest of them to another merchant who was on his way to Ryo-shu. Liling-Po suspects one of the treasures, a fraction of a mural painting, to be in a local art exhibit in Ryo-shu. Liling-Po runs into Yako, an old friend of him, who became estranged from Liling~Po. The treasure is found behind the wall in the museum. Liling-Po and Yako reconcile with each other and Yako joins the team to find the rest of the treasures.
