1890. Henry W. Grady was a major proponent of national reconciliation during the post-Civil War era, delivering his famous New South speech in 1886 in New York City. As editor of the Atlanta Constitution, Grady promoted southern industry and agricultural diversification. This memorial volume of his works was compiled by his coworkers on The Constitution and edited by the famous author of Uncle Remus, Joel Chandler Harris.
