Description

Jane, a brave and sensual Englishwoman, is caught in a deadly romantic triangle between rival spies Ellis and Jean-Pierre. Love, hatred and deception sweep them from terrorist conspiracies in Paris to full-tilt guerilla warfare in Afghanistan. Jean-Pierre and Jane marry and go to work as doctors in the Valley of the Five Lions to help the rebels fighting for their freedom against the Russians. Trapped between extremes of violence, lust and danger, Jane desperately tries to get out of the line of fire. Help comes unexpectedly, from her husband's greatest enemy. They soon become the centre of the action, as treachery seeks its prey. Follett builds the menacing tension to breaking point, leading to a confrontation that echoes all our nightmares.

Author Biography

Ken Follett was twenty-seven when he wrote Eye of the Needle, an award-winning thriller that became an international bestseller. After writing more successful thrillers he surprised everyone with The Pillars of the Earth, about the building of a cathedral in the Middle Ages, which continues to captivate millions of readers all over the world. World Without End, the sequel, was a number one bestseller in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain and France. His next project is his most ambitious yet. The Century trilogy will tell the entire history of the twentieth century, seen through the eyes of five linked families: one American, one English, one German, one Russian, and one Welsh. The first book was Fall of Giants, and the second, The Winter of the World, published in 2012.
