The techniques available to engineers for the modification of a material's wettability characteristics are invariably extremely complex and difficult to control. Author Biography

DR. JONATHAN LAWRENCE gained his PhD on laser materialsprocessing from University of Manchester Institute of Science andTechnology (UMIST). He has published many papers in the field. Hiscurrent research interests include: laser modification of thewettability characteristics of bio-materials, laser treatment ofbuilding materials, and laser enamelling. PROFESSOR LIN LI is the director of the Laser ProcessingResearch Centre at UMIST. His research interests include: lasermachining and drilling, rapid prototyping, laser surfaceengineering, and mathematical modelling.
