Labyrinth Of Lies

Germany, 1958: when young attorney Johann Radmann comes across sensitive documents that would bring members of the SS who served in Auschwitz to trial, he is told to bury the past. Against the will of his superiors, he examines the case and lands in a web of repression and denial. He is sucked into a labyrinth of lies and guilt in his search for truth, but what he ultimately brings to light will change the country forever.

“Giulio Ricciarelli’s film is set in the years after World War II, as Germany struggles with the legacy of the Holocaust. An ambitious young lawyer (Alexander Fehling) teams up with a journalist (André Szymanski) to prosecute former SS soldiers who have reintegrated into society. Despite all their hard work (the old-school investigation is like The Wire reimagined in postwar Europe), they find no easy answers. Fehling gives a commanding physical performance as he transitions from ambition to despair to, finally, resolve.” – Entertainment Weekly – Christian Holub
