Dr. John Cesari, former mobster turned gastroenterologist, finds himself on the wrong end of the law. A felony conviction lands him in Riker's Island, one of the country's most dangerous correctional facilities, doing community service. Fighting to survive, he becomes trapped in the web of a vicious criminal gang dealing in drugs and human flesh. A seemingly unrelated and mysterious death of a college student in Greenwich Village thrusts Cesari into the middle of the action, and forced to take sides, his options are to either cooperate or die.
