No other biography brings the reader closer to the real C S Lewis than George Sayer's warm and enlightening insider's view. Jack details the great scholar's life at the kilns; his career at Magdalen College; his relationship with Mrs Moore; meetings with the Inklings; marriage to Joy Davidman Gresham; and the creative process that produced such world famous works as the classic Chronicles of Narnia, Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters. Sayer shows us a Lewis who is a very human, sometimes faulty or mistaken, but somehow all the greater for those weaknesses.
George Sayer was Head of English at Malvern College until 1974. While there he and Lewis formed a deep friendship and Sayer became involved with the Inklings. He lives in Worcestershire.
