Description

This is the story of a Civil Service worker at a government Facility. He entered into the world of Civil Service feeling fortunate to have gained a position with the organization and feels that a job with the government was a great opportunity. He eagerly looked forward to the challenges the job would bring and that surely, with hard work and exemplary performance, he would rise quickly in the organization. As time goes by, he begins to realize that hard work and talent have little to do with getting promoted. It was the "Snake Oil Salesman" and those who prostitute themselves to management that get most of the promotions. He found that there is some truth to the Dilbert Principal, which says, "The most ineffective workers are systematically moved to the place where they can do the least damage: management." The Repair facility is not to be construed as a typical Government Entity; after all, Joel Barlow had explicit faith in our American Government. *Joel Barlow - A true American Patriot who lies in an unmarked grave somewhere in Russia.

Author Biography:

Jimmy Carter was born in Witchata Falls, Texas. He grew up in the Fort Worth, Texas area. He spent twenty years in the United States Navy; he worked for fifteen years in Civil Service for three different Departments. Most of the Civil Service jobs did not give him a feeling of accomplishment and left these positions with a feeling of relief. He now lives in the beautiful Texas Hill Country with his two dogs, a Dachshund named "Duke" and a Basset Hound named "Lily". He is greeted every morning by deer, wild turkeys and many other species of birds.
