But the Tra dition of the Jews, that he was put to death by Ma naffeh, is very uncertain; and one of theixj principal Rabbins (aben Ezra, Com. In If; 1; feerhs ra ther to think, that he died before Hezekiah; Which is indeed more probable. It is however certain, that he lived at leaf't to the 15th or 16th year of Heze' kiah: this makes the leafi pofiible term of the dura tion of his prophetical othee about years; The time of the delivery of fome of his Prophecies is either expreflly marked, or fufficiently clear from the hif tory, to which they relate that of a few others may With fome probability be deduced from internal marks; from exprefiions, defcriptions, and circum fiances interwoven. It may therefore be of fame ufe in this refpeet, and for the better underftanding of his Prophecies in general, to give here a fummary View of the hiftory of his time.
