Brought this as a gift for my sister she absolutely loves it.
When our slow cooker broke, replacing it with an Instant pot felt like a big gamble, but after a week I was a total convert. It makes perfect rice, tender meat, incredible risotto, quick soup, great lasagne, etc, etc, etc. The only thing it doesn't cope with well are recipes with dairy, but there are ways around this and it can even make a decent lasagne.
It's a completely different way of cooking, and timings are critical. Talking to friends with other brands, they all got a bit stuck after making the handful of recipes which came with their pressure cookers. Luckily there are literally hundreds of cookbooks specific to Instant Pot (I recommend The Instant Pot Bible for beginners), there's even a free app with lots of recipes to start you off. I've also discovered that Instant Pot is quite a lot faster than most pressure cookers avaliable in NZ.
I would recommend it to any busy family (if you are a family of 4+, you'd want the larger size), or if you're expecting baby (it would be great for making baby-food, just make sure you learn how to use it before baby arrives and you're too tired!).
The only disadvantage I've found is that you can't guarantee dinner on the table at a specific time, as sometimes it takes a bit longer to come to pressure. But it's always boiling hot, so I usually make it a bit earlier and leave it in the pot to cool a bit. It also has a timer, so you could set it before going to work and have dinner when you get home.
I also have sealing rings, it's good to have a couple, one for meat/curries and one for sweet/plain dishes.
