The community workers are portrayed by young children in costume to engage young readers. Occupations featured include doctor, nurse, teacher, vet, grocer, chef, hair stylist, barber, construction worker, fire fighter, police officer, train engineer, lawyer, judge and politician (mayor). JUST FOR FUN FACTS at the back of the book test children's memory of the informaiton in the book. Parents will be delighted to learn they can download free copies of boy/girl paper dolls and paper clothing/uniforms for some of the community workers for their children to color, cut out and dress the paper dolls.

Author Biography:

LoLo Smith is an educator, writer and creator of the Living Storybook, a literacy/performing arts project for children. She was raised and educated in St. Louis but has lived in the District of Columbia for the past 40 years. She has written 4 other books.
