Description

This fascinating collection of over 200 archive photographs charts the transformation of Horsforth over the last hundred years. The book shows, through illustrations, a progression covering the rise and fall of the mill industries to the urbanisation of the modern town. Before the last war, life in Horsforth was largely a rural existence with open fields to the horizons. Today Horsforth is a bustling conurbation within the giant sprawl that is Metropolitan Leeds, yet for many residents the area retains aspects of village life. Horsforth is still a distinct entity with its own sense of community.
