Not alone by moonlight, or by water, or by the presence Of his adored one, but by all these plus the stupid boredom of Tom Brown who chanted romantic poetry into the ears Of his adored one. It was bad enough (the poetry) but Jimmy felt that Tom ought to know better. Oh, how he longed for something to happen! Something to relieve-this monotonous trip. He prayed that the little launch would strike a rock, or lose its rudder, or even be totally wrecked, then he would show them all. But no such thing happened. With only a glance or two of amused indifference at our hero, his cherished one passed the evening listening to Tennyson or Shakespeare.
