Not going to lie, being a fan of the old Hitman games, I was one of the haters of the webisodic releases. Thought they had ruined a great series. Absolution was a decent addition to the franchise, but didn't blow me away. It seemed as if everyone were trying to sabotage the series post-Blood Money, with 2 garbage movies in between.

I never played the webisodes as a digital download, as I refuse to pay money for a game that's been split. I like to have a physical copy of a game, where I can play it in its entirety. Finally, after a year of these online webisodes, they released it physically.

And I just have to say this game has finally resurrected the franchise. I found the idea to make it a TV show-like videogame was refreshing. It was something different to what other games and franchises have done. The story was good and Agent 47 is as ruthless as ever. No BS plots. The music is incredible and sets the pace. The graphics is the best of Hitman.

On a whole this game is good. The dialogue is well done and the missions are very detailed. It has good melee combat and the maps are quite big. However, for some reason they decided to lock all the weapons and starting points behind online connection, which is pointless and detrimental to the game. For one, being online for just doing the same things as offline, makes the loading screens several times longer. Also it has bad connection issues, and since the online and offline saves are separate, being disconnected means you can't continue your progress.

Sometimes actually starting a level can take you half an hour, and if you can't connect or don't have the internet, then you can't access most of the items and cool weapons in the game. Its a shame because on a game design level its really good, but because of the terrible decisions square enix have made with online restrictions, the game is held back from what it could be.

Having been a fan of the series since the first, I knew that this would be a game I would end up buying. Not a fan of mircotransations, I decided to wait to purchase the full game as a hard copy rather than digitally upon release nearly a year ago. The game looks amazing, and plays almost as good. Having only completed the first map, I have plenty more to explore. The maps have a large amount of detail in them, and there appears to be a heap of choice when it comes to assassinating your victim. NPC's seem to act a little thick, but with the level of detail, you can understand why (also, it wouldn't feel like a Hitman game any other way haha). Overall I think this is a good option for fans of the series.
