Description

Three girls growing up in Pineland Illinois, a suburb of Chicago Illinois in the United States are from different ethnic backgrounds and are closer in friendship to each other than to their own siblings. Lillian Longley of Irish/British descent, is the eldest daughter of a long-termed U.S. senator; Nia McLaughlin of African-American descent, is the daughter of a restaurateur; and Sonia Santini of Italian descent, is the daughter of a Mafia don. From post-WWII into the 1980's the adventures, accomplishments, romantic encounters, and disappointments involved in "growing up" and "living life" is covered for these three women. As we follow the different life experiences and adventures of Lillian, Nia and Sonia, we are additionally intrigued by the adventures of a king searching for his heir to the oil-rich country of Ramis. The search brings the king to the United States where, with the help of our three heroines and their families, he is successful in finding the heir to Ramis after a more than thirty-year absence. The events of these families reinforces the beliefs that life is predestined, and that there is a Supreme Being, regardless of whether He is called God, Jehovah, or Allah, Who works in mysterious ways.... His Wonders to Perform.
