Description

The Midland Railway port of Heysham opened to traffic in 1904 -- a new port built on reclaimed land where there had been no previous harbour. Whilst the main purpose of this book is to celebrate the centenary of the Port Heysham, this also requires reference to the major services and ships which have operated to the Isle of Man, Belfast, Dublin and (more recently) to Warrenpoint. It is also important to see how those services have impinged on the growth of their ports.
